A Precious Child thanks Denver Transit Partners employees for their support of the 2015 Fill A Backpack Program. Thanks to DTP’s compassionate employees, DTP provided over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies and volunteered time to fill another 500 backpacks.

A Precious Child set a goal of providing 7,750 filled backpacks, which help disadvantaged and displaced children feel better prepared to perform in school. Denver Transit Partners is delighted to announce that A Precious Child shattered their goal with a record-breaking total of 8,447 backpacks distributed!

Big thanks to the wonderful DTP employees who helped A Precious Child exceed their goal. For the fourth year in a row, DTP volunteers contributed time, supplies, and donations to help improve the lives of children in need throughout the Denver-metro area.

The toys were given to our community partner, A Precious Child, who is providing gifts to 6,000 disadvantaged and displaced children in Colorado as part of its Precious Gift Program. Employees on the Eagle P3 Project donated over 60 toys and $400 in cash donations for the toy drive, along with wrapping paper to provide to the families receiving the donated gifts.

With plenty to be thankful for over the past year of construction, Denver Transit Partners (DTP) recently got into the Thanksgiving spirit by sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit Metro CareRing. The week long food drive yielded 459 pounds of food donated by Eagle P3 Project employees. The food drive is another example of DTP’s ongoing commitment to contribute to and serve the local communities in which we work. Metro CareRing is a Denver based food bank which aims to provide nutritious food to families and individuals while promoting self-sufficiency. For more information about Metro CareRing, click here.

In 2012, the organization was able to provide basic needs for 20,948 impoverished children and adults. The partnership, which consists of a financial donation and several volunteer projects throughout the year, will help to increase the number of children and families that will be served in 2013. “DTP has selected A Precious Child as a partner in community giving because of its ability to serve children in communities along our entire project corridor,” said Greg Amparano, Executive Project Director.

Denver Transit Partners Delivers Coats to Swansea Elementary Students

Coats collected in DTP’s January coat drive were distributed on January 29 to 75 children at Swansea Elementary school. Volunteers from DTP, A Precious Child, and from Swansea Elementary School helped the nominated children get fitted with new coats, hats, gloves and mittens.

Thanks to generous donations from DTP employees, more than 100 coats were collected or purchased to supply the coat distribution. A Precious Child provided hats, mittens, and gloves, in addition to coats, to supplement the effort.

Each child was accompanied by a volunteer personal shopper to get sized and select their coat. The recipients were appreciative of the new coats and excited to try out the new gear in the snow that had fallen the previous night.

Swansea Elementary is located near Downtown Denver and is a part of Denver Public Schools. Students enrolled in the Free or Reduced Lunch program at Swansea Elementary is a staggering 97.9%. The East Rail Line of the Eagle P3 Project goes through the Swansea neighborhood.

Phil Washington, General Manager for RTD, who attended the coat distribution, said “Providing a basic need like coats to needy children in a community that will soon be riding the commuter rail train is a simple, yet meaningful gesture.”

The partnership between DTP and A Precious Child will continue throughout 2013, and includes a donation of $15,000 from DTP to A Precious Child. The donation will go towards providing basic essentials for children in need in Colorado throughout the year. The partnership between the two organizations will also include the involvement of DTP employees in volunteering their time to A Precious Child.

“DTP has selected A Precious Child as a partner in community giving because of its ability to serve children in communities along our entire project corridor,” said Greg Amparano, Executive Project Director.

Denver Transit Partners Participates in Day of Community Service

On September 9th, 2012, Denver Transit Partners (DTP) was proud to participate with three Denver based non-profit organizations, “Day of Service”.

The Park People

The Park People

Over 75 DTP employees and their families completed projects at The Park People, The GrowHaus, and, A Precious Child.

DTP’s has a top down commitment to develop a supportive relationship to the communities in which we are imparting transit infrastructure change. The organizations that were selected provide services along the commuter rail lines of the RTD FasTracks Eagle P3 Project (East Rail Line, Gold Line and the initial segment of the Northwest Rail Line)

Our volunteers assisted the organizations in a host of a ways, inclusive of planting trees in areas underserved by community parks on behalf of “The Park People”. Other volunteers assisted in the expansion of “The GrowHaus”, an indoor farming project that strives to increase community food access and production, while educating the community on sustainability, gardening, and nutrition.

A Precious Child

A final group lent their time inventorying donations, sorting clothes and assisting clients of “A Precious Child”, an organization that supports families by providing clothing, books, toys, sports equipment, and supplies for children.
